Orthodox Catechism

This book will instruct you in the basics of Orthodox Christian belief and Orthodox Christian living.

"What is a catechism?" you may ask.  Catechism comes from a Greek word meaning "to teach or inform."  Saint Luke's Gospel was written in order to confirm to Theophilus "the things of which you have been informed" (Luke 1:4).

The Bible text priimarily used in the lessons is the Revised Standard Version with Apocrypha.  The Apocryphal books were used by the early Church and are still used by the Orthodox Church.

Orthodox Christian Readings

A Selection of 366 Readings on the Ancient Christian Faith

This collection of Readings has been selected for you with the sincere prayer that you may spiritually benefit from the wisdom and counsel of Abbas and Ammas (Fathers and Mothers in Christ) who have gone before us.

These 366 Readings were selected for serious contemplation. We humbly suggest that you read slowly and prayerfuly, one Reading a day.  Allow the spiritual wisdom and counsel contained in the Reading to guide you throughout the day.  Meditate on each one as you go about your work.
